Athens SUP Adventure
Surrounded by mountains and sea, Athens is basked in year-round sun and perfect conditions for SUP (stand up paddle boarding). Paddle around magnificent locations such as Vouliagmeni – the highlight beach town of the Athenian Riviera – and stunning cape Sounio and visit the temple of Poseidon - god of the sea. Our expert professional instructors will guide you to a weekend paddling adventure of a lifetime.
Day 1 Friday -
Welcome to Athens! Your airport transfer will take you to your hotel where our meeting and first briefing by your guide will take place. Athens, the classical beauty, is where history meets the modern day in a mishmash of the ancient and the chaotically new.The evening is yours to explore the city or relax at the hotel.
Day 2 Saturday -
After a scenic 50’ road trip across the Athenian Riviera, we will arrive at Sounio where the awe-inspiring Temple of Poseidon, god of the sea, is located. We will paddle around this sacred region, where according to Greek mythology, Aegeus, king of Athens jumped off the cliff after mistakenly believing that his son Theseus had died.
We will have lunch at local taverna serving delicious homemade food and will return at the hotel at around sunset.
Day 3 Sunday -
Vouliagmeni is the most beautiful region of the Athenian riviera, located a mere 30 minutes’ drive away from Athens center. Our SUPs will be tuned and waiting for you to paddle around crystal waters with stunning views of the peninsula. We will take lunch at a local taverna with sea views and will transfer to Athens international airport.
ATHENS CENTER SQUARE
Located 300 meters away from the Plaka area and Monastiraki Square, the Hotel Athens Center Square is a short walk from all the major archaeological sites. From the hotel’s garden-terrace you can relax and admire the panoramic views of the city and the Acropolis.
AMARILIA HOTEL VOULIAGMENI
Located a few meters away from the sandy beach of Kavouri, Amarilia hotel has stunning views to one of the most beautiful beaches of the Athens’ coastline.
Our SUP tours run from Friday to Sunday. For all flights arriving in Athens between 5.00pm and 6.00pm, our driver will be at the Athens International Airport to transfer you to your hotel. In case your flight arrived earlier, please arrange your own taxi transfer to your hotel. Our meeting point is at the hotel lobby at 7.30pm.

We will spend 2 nights in stylish 3 star accommodations with en-suite facilities. From October to May selected hotels are located in the Athenian historical centre and at walking distance from most major sites, and from June to September in Vouliagmeni sea side town which is a 25 minutes' drive away from Athens centre. All hotels have rooms in which we sleep on a twin share basis. In such case of solo travelers booking a single room, there is a single supplement charge applied (100€).

Our tour leaders & SUP instructors are qualified, native Greek professionals, fluent in English & French, with excellent communication skills and vast knowledge of the regions visited.
In order to better appreciate the uniqueness of your holiday, we advise you to be in good physical condition. Swimming knowledge is mandatory.
If you have not already arranged appropriate insurance cover, please contact our recommended Travel Insurance providers. It is an essential condition of joining a holiday with Personality Journeys that you have a valid travel insurance policy.

Small day-pack, sports shoes, sandals, sunglasses, hat, sun cream, water can, bathing suit, beach towel, basic First Aid Kit including: antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, insect repellent.
Optional: Water resist camera, Neopren shoes, lycra long-sleeve shirt, wet-suit.
Our scheduled SUP trips have guaranteed departures.
We choose strictly blue flag awarded beaches. The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach, marina or sustainable boating tourism operator meets its stringent standards. There are no currents or tide in the Saronic gulf and marine life is limited.

Should adverse conditions prevail (too strong winds or waves), we have plan B scenarios in protected bays. It is up to the judgement of the SUP instructor to alter or cancel a SUP activity due to safety reasons.
Statistically water temperature is approx.15 degrees from January to late March (wetsuit needed) and from 16 to 26 degrees from April to November.
