Athens Wine Tasting

20/01/2019

Athens, the classical beauty, is where history meets the modern day in a mishmash of the ancient and the chaotically new. We get a taste of Greece’s winemaking heritage on this long weekend wine tasting course, in the verdant growing regions of Attica Mesogeia and Stamata. Greece is home to some of Europe’s top wines. Don’t just take our word for it though, because you’ll enjoy tasting sessions accompanied by platters of graviera cheese straight from the Aegean Islands, salty kefalotyri cheese, and fine Grecian salami mezzes.

Day 01

Welcome to Greece! Your airport private transfer will take you to your hotel  located at Athens’ historical center. The evening is yours to explore the ancient city. Lose yourself in the bustling town centre around Plaka and in the charming, narrow streets of Anafiotika neighbourhood on Acropolis hill, ending your day relishing Greek mezze in a scenic restaurant overlooking the illuminated Parthenon.

Day 03

Today, we drive toward the eastern part of Attica to reach the famous Mesogeia region – the oldest and largest wine-producing region in Greece. The winery we visit is the first in Greece especially designed and built according to innovative bioclimatic standards. Located among vines, it sits atop the ruins of an old monastery, with views out across the plains of the Attican vineyards. In that gorgeous setting, let our trained sommelier guide you through some of the nation’s most acclaimed wines.

In close proximity to the vineyard lies the Temple of Artemis, the haunt of Dionysus, the patron saint of wine. It’s the perfect place to finish the trip, after which we transfer to Athens International airport for the flight back home.
